PZ Cussons is part of Paterson Zochonis PLc with head offices based in Stockport in the United Kingdom.
The Paterson Zochonis group purchased Cussons in 1975. The group has built on early successes with bar soaps and now has products in over 170 countries.
Paterson Zochonis was founded by George Paterson and George Zochonis, who established a trading post together in Sierra Leone in 1879.
In 1976 Paterson Zochonis acquired the Preservene Soap Company and Cussons entered the Australian market.
Since then, the business has grown significantly with new brand and product launches.
In 1987, a new detergent manufacturing plant was built at Dandenong, Victoria, while soap manufacture was located at Richmond, another Melbourne suburb.
Soap manufacture was moved to the Dandenong site in 1999, and it now houses head office as well as manufacturing facilities.
Cussons New Zealand is managed as a sister company of Cussons Pty Ltd.
Apart from New Zealand and the domestic market, Cussons Pty Ltd also exports products to a number of overseas markets such as Russia, Taiwan, Philippines and Pakistan.
Cussons' Australian business is focused in personal care and household/laundry cleaning with a range of well known and respected brands including Morning Fresh, Imperial Leather, Radiant, Graphite, Cussons Pure, Duo, Pearl, Carex, Cussons Baby, Preservene, and Advance.
